Benjamin Drummond - The First Patient

USS Tennessee Logbook

On August 19, 1863, having somehow escaping from his Confederate captors, Benjamin Drummond rowed out into the Gulf of Mexico and was taken aboard the USS Tennessee, a Union gunboat. The logbook of the Katahdin noted that Drummond was one of the former crewmembers of the "U.S.S. Morning Light, captured and burned some months since." This is a digital copy of a page from the original logbook held by the National Archives at their facility in Washington, DC.
